Who is Collecting Your Information?
We are educators, parents, researchers, and technology professionals. While playing Cool School: Where Peace Rules certain anonymous data is collected. This data is collected at the beginning of the game and from within the game itself. This data may be retrieved by employees of Realtime Associates, Rational Games, Inc., or their trusted designees. The data is collected using Google Analytics using the highest ethical secure web practices. The data is not automatically transferred but instead must be manually collected. We do this to further guarantee the privacy and safety of everyone playing Cool School.
What information do we collect?
We value the privacy and safety of everyone who plays Cool School: Where Peace Rules. As parents, educators, advocates for peace, and researchers, we understand how important it is that children feel safe when using the internet and that their safety and security are held paramount. Therefore we will never sell or commercially provide any information we collect. Period. As a non-profit, and due to the unique origins of Cool School: Where Peace Rules as a publicly funded project, we are forbidden from selling any aspect of the game - including data we might collect.
When Cool School is played we collect information in two ways: Information provided at the beginning of the game, and information collected during game play.
When a player chooses to play Cool School they are asked a few personal questions: age, gender. Age and gender are completely voluntary and the player is under no obligation to provide this information. If this information is provided we record it in a Google Analytical spreadsheet. This data will be analyzed and presented to other researchers and funding supporters as a correlation between age and gender of those playing. Nothing more. We do not attach names, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, or any other personally identifiable information to this data set.
The third kind of data we ask for is the name of the player. This is never stored or collected in any way, and it is only used within the game to address the player and for a certificate when the game is completed. Once the player exits the game this data is discarded.
While playing Cool School a number of anonymous data points are collected. We collect: length of time playing Cool School: Where Peace Rules, success rate, choices made, and game competition rate. These are stored anonymously in a Google Analytics spreadsheet and correlated with age and gender information. This helps us to research and better understand how different groups of players interact within the game. It also helps us show that people are playing the game and finding success within.
What do we use your information for?
Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to anyone, without first undergoing a comprehensive review to remove any and all personally identifiable information. We are interested in the types of people playing Cool School: Where Peace Rules because this helps us in fundraising, research, and building better games. Information collected helps us to raise awareness and develop champions for the game and its mission. For example: If players choose to voluntarily provide us their age and gender, we will correlate this and present it to other researchers, educators, and professionals to demonstrate the progress and success of Cool School: Where Peace Rules among that age and gender grouping.
How do we protect your information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or access your personal information. We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.
Do we use cookies?
Yes (Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. This information helps Cool School: Where Peace Rules perform the best for your particular technology, such as browser, screen resolution, etc.
Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, developing video games, or servicing the game and its website, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
Cool School: Where Peace Rules is fully compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 ("COPPA"). It is our policy that only the minimal collection of information is collected from our visitors. Consistent with this policy, data collected from within Cool School is limited to information that is voluntarily provided for research and educational purposes. Other information, such as those contained within cookies and game play, is limited to what is known as non-personally identifiable information (e.g. first name, Computer Information). We do not condition participation of a parent and/or their child in any games or other online activities contained within Cool School on the disclosure of more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the activity.
